Meet Kalim
Hi, I'm Kalim, owner of Water Makers Australia.
If you've read our reviews or spoken with anyone who owns one of our systems, you've probably already come across my name. I handle most of the technical support and sales advice myself, so when you reach out, you'll be talking with me directly, not a call centre and not a script.
It started as a family project. My father-in-law, Stephen, and I designed the original system for his own boat one Sunday afternoon on the Port Hacking River. We were simply two guys solving a real problem for a boat we both care about. The design has come a long way since, but that afternoon is still the foundation everything is built on.
I've held onto the same approach ever since: look at the system from the user's perspective, not just what looks good on a spec sheet. It's easy to fixate on production figures, power consumption, and technical specs, but what people really want is freedom. No more lugging jerry cans, rationing showers, or planning a trip around the nearest marina tap. Keeping that in mind has shaped these systems as much as any technical decision.
One project I'm especially proud of is bringing autonomous, solar-powered watermakers to communities in PNG and the Pacific Islands, providing clean water from nothing but seawater and sunlight. Making a real difference like that is a privilege, and it's a big part of what keeps me passionate about this work. It's also the standard I hold every system to, because somewhere, someone is genuinely relying on it.
Outside of work, you'll usually find me getting my family out near the water. Providing well for them is what drives all of this.

What We Do
We design and supply modular marine water maker systems using proven, serviceable components. Our systems are suitable for cruising yachts, powerboats, commercial vessels, expedition boats, and liveaboards.
Every system is selected and configured with attention to:
- reliability in a saltwater environment
- sensible power consumption
- ease of installation and maintenance
- availability of parts and consumables
We avoid proprietary components and closed systems wherever possible. The aim is long-term ownership without surprises.
How We Work
We take the time to understand your boat, power setup, and intended use before recommending a system. In many cases that means tailoring flow rate, pump selection, and configuration rather than offering a one-size-fits-all package. Need something designed custom? Just let us know.

Marine water makers require correct installation, setup, and operation to perform properly. Support is therefore a core part of what we provide.
We assist customers through:
- system selection and planning
- installation guidance
- commissioning and initial operation
- ongoing use, maintenance, and troubleshooting
Most customers work with marine professionals for installation, and we remain available after the sale 7 days a week.
Components & Standards
We use well-established high quality membranes, pumps, filters, and fittings and provide support globally. This ensures parts can be sourced and serviced while cruising, not just locally.
Why Water Matters
