The Technical Stuff
How It Works
For those of you that love to know how it works - this is for you. If you're just happy with it working - please skip this section!
We've taken existing technologies - re-engineered and re-designed them to make it easy and affordable to enable boat owners to have unlimited fresh water - all made from salt water.
Our marine systems come in kit form so they can be installed in the unused spaces in your yacht or boat.
You can install it yourself following our comprehensive installation manual supplied, get your plumber or boat mechanic to help or we can recommend a trusted partner to do this for you.
All our filters and external connection hoses are readily and commonly available from your local plumber or plumbing store.
The only pre-requisites are that you have access for our system to suck up some seawater, return the unused seawater and a tank to store the beautiful fresh water.
We also provide you with a detailed operation manual and after-sales support including a limited 24 month warranty.
Don't forget to visit our How to Choose a System page for invaluable information.
We use a suction pump to draw the normal seawater in to the system through a mesh filter. It then gets pumped through a 20 micron filter then a 5 micron filter (replacements readily available online or from our store) to remove any larger particles. It then goes to a high pressure pump which sends the water to the high pressure housing containing the reverse osmosis (RO) membrane - the smarts of the operation. You might remember from your schooling days that in the normal osmosis process, the solvent naturally moves from an area of low solute concentration (high water potential), through a membrane, to an area of high solute concentration (low water potential). We use high pressure to force it the other way removing the dissolved salts. What's left is a slightly saltier solution (brine) going back to the sea and fresh water being pumped to whatever storage tank you have chosen.
We cover everything from providing you with an automatic fresh water flush system to keep your system pristine for many years to come through to a digital meter that measures the quality of the water produced in TDS (Total Disolved Solids), all fittings, hoses filters, valves - everything you need to start producing beautiful water.
